Covidien Imaging Solutions - potential for Molybdenum-99 breakthrough
An Important Product Notification from Covidien Imaging Solutions Pharmacy to their customers using molybdenum-99 (Mo-99) / technetium-99m (Tc-99m) generators was announced on January 26, 2008. Covidien indicates that there have been some reports of the molybdenum breakthrough concentration exceeding the limit of 0.15 microcuries Mo-99 per millicurie of Tc-99m. Covidien's customers are urged to test each eluate to ensure that this concentration limit is not exceeded. This Important Product Notification is applicable to those who elute generators, not to those who purchase prepared radiopharmaceuticals.
