


The American Association of Medical Physicists (AAPM) is an international organization and provides a variety of programs, membership opportunities, and resources for medical physicists, students, and related medical and scientific professionals anywhere in the world.

Information on all AAPM programs and activities is available on the web at http://www.aapm.org. This web site is open to all but some specific programs and resources are restricted to AAPM Members and require an AAPM Member USERNAME and PASSWORD.
Many of the Educational Resources are also available to medical physicists in the Developing Countries. Access requires registration as a Developing Country Educational Associate (DCEA) and obtaining a Developing Country Educational Associate USERNAME and PASSWORD.

The official AAPM journal, Medical Physics, is published both in printed and online editions. The online edition is generally the most appropriate for international distribution. The Table of Contents and Abstracts are available for viewing by anyone at http://www.medphys.org. However, a subscription password is required to read the complete articles. Subscriptions to Medical Physics is included with all categories of membership.
There are several categories of AAPM membership, depending on ones qualifications (education and experience) and place of residence. Physicists from any country can apply for Full Member status but many not living in North America might find Corresponding Membership more appropriate. The different membership categories and the application process is described in the New Member Information.
The Partners in Physics Program (PIP) provides opportunities for physicists in the Developing Countries to have their application fee and dues waived. For information about the PIP contact the AAPM International Affairs Committee using the message form for the IAC at the bottom of this page.
The AAPM provides, sponsors, or co-sponsors a variety of educational and training programs in cooperation with medical physics organizations throughout the world.
Each year the International Scientific Exchange Program (ISEP) provides Continuing Education courses on both therapeutic and diagnostic imaging physics in selected Developing Countries.
