Occupation: Scripture-based and secular dispute resolution

Born:  El Paso, Texas     19 December 1946

Education:  Texas A&M University, Nuclear Engineering (B.S. ’68, M.Eng. ’70, Ph.D. ’84); Sul Ross State University (M.B.A. ’76); South Texas College of Law (’05)

Certifications:  American Board of Science in Nuclear Medicine (’79); American Board of Radiology, Medical Nuclear Physics (’80); American College of Healthcare Executives, Healthcare Administration (‘98); Certified Christian Conciliator (candidate)

Career:

Tony Benedetto began his work career in 1970 as an active duty US Army power reactor health physicist.  In 1972 he transferred to the soon-to-be-decommissioned Walter Reed Army Medical Center and became a medical health physicist.  In 1973 he transferred to William Beaumont Army Medical Center as RPO and nuclear medicine physicist.  In 1977 he left active duty for an appointment as Assistant Professor at UT Health Science Center in San Antonio.  He made a final transition into diagnostic radiology physics in 1984 when he transferred to the UT Medical Branch in Galveston.

While active as a Texas medical physicist, Tony was licensed by the State of Texas.  He ultimately advanced to tenured Professor at the UT Medical Branch in Galveston.  When a new chairman did not share his vision of Tony’s career path, Tony moved into radiology administration in 1995 as Professor and Director of Radiology at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.  After moving back to Houston, Tony worked for two years at MD Anderson Cancer Center as a senior radiology administrator guiding a Six Sigma project to “fix the Film Library”, following which General Electric recognized his achievement by designating him a Six Sigma Black Belt.  Tony had brief stints in industry, with ADAC Laboratories (1994-1995) and with Guidant Corporation (2002-2003).

A glass ceiling in healthcare abruptly made its presence known in 2002, so he decided to become a lawyer.  Tony entered law school in 2003 and graduated in 2005.  He anticipates receiving notice that he passed the July 2005 Texas bar exam, in which case he will be licensed as an attorney in Texas.  However, he decided during law school to not be a lawyer after all, so he has established Woodlands Conciliation Center, LLC, a solo practice exclusively limited to scripture-based and secular dispute resolution (anything he can do to keep clients out of the courtroom).  He was recently accepted as a candidate in the certification program of the Institute for Christian Conciliation, successful completion of which will result in the award of the Certified Christian Conciliator credential.

Tony was active as a health physicist and medical physicist in the US Army Reserve for many years and will retire in 2006 as a Colonel, having been awarded the “A” proficiency designator by the US Army Surgeon General.
