He is currently an independent practitioner of medical physics as lead medical physicist at the CyberKnife® Center at the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio and has been working with CyberKnife® for the past 2.5 years. Dr. Hevezi is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiological Physics and Therapeutic Radiological Physics by the American Board of Radiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). He serves in leadership positions in the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) and AAPM. Dr. Hevezi has published widely in the fields of radiology, medical physics and radiation oncology and has mentored graduate students in the Ph.D. and M.S. programs at several prestigious institutions. He has given many invited presentations at national society meetings and served on the Board of the local Texas Radiological Society. He served on the medical advisory boards of several radiological companies including Philips North American (as Marconi Medical Systems) and IMPAC Medical Systems. He has had wide experience in medical economic issues as they pertain to radiation oncology procedures and equipment. He has served as Chair of the ACR/COMP Economics Committee (1996-2002) and is the current Chair of AAPM’s Economics Committee. He serves on ASTRO’s Health Policy Executive Committee having presented data to the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the American Medical Association (AMA) Relative-value-system Update Committee (RUC) for the introduction of new CPT codes and procedures in radiation oncology.
