CMSBerwick nomination hearing delayedPosted: June 10, 2010 Senate Finance Committee Chair Max Baucus (D-MT) indicated Thursday that a confirmation hearing for President Barack Obama’s nominee to head CMS – Massachusetts pediatrician and health reform guru Donald Berwick – will not happen before July 4, an industry consultant said. Berwick has weathered a storm of criticism from Republicans over his views on use of comparative effectiveness research to ration care and his support for the United Kingdom’s National Institute for Health and Clinical Effectiveness.
