Program Description

The Equipment Donation Program Subcommittee (EDPSC) serves the joint partnership between AAPM and IOMP. The EDPSC has established a framework to increase the likelihood that available, working-order quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) equipment is put to good use at clinics or educational institutions in low- and lower-middle-income countries. If you have equipment that you would like to donate or you would like to request specific equipment, please see the Process for Equipment Donation and Process for Requesting Equipment Donation tabs.

Targeted Needs

While we would like to accept donations for more general medical equipment, the AAPM/IOMP Equipment Donation Program is currently focused on sourcing instruments and equipment for radiotherapy, diagnostic imaging, and nuclear medicine QA/QC applications only.

The items most needed and requested by our global community are below. If you have any of these items available for donation, we hope that you will consider sending them to a new home.

  • Connector adapters
  • Digital barometers and thermometers
  • Electrometers
  • Extension cables
  • Image quality phantoms, particularly CT and mammography
  • Ionization chambers (in both the diagnostic and radiotherapy range)
  • Small 1D tanks
  • Solid water

If you are unsure if your potential donation is a fit for our program, please contact us. We are not equipped to handle some items; however, we may be able to recommend alternative non-profit organizations that can facilitate your donation.

Process for Equipment Donation

Thank you for your interest in donating to the Equipment Donation Program! Our goal is to maximize the benefit for recipients by ensuring the donated equipment is practical and usable. We are able to accept donations of the following radiotherapy, diagnostic imaging, and nuclear medicine QA/QC equipment:

  • New equipment
  • Older non-electronic phantoms or test tools
  • Functional or easily serviceable electronic equipment manufactured after the year 2000

The Donation Process

  1. Complete the Donation Form.
  2. A member of the EDPSC will reach out to you to acknowledge receipt of the form and obtain additional information, if necessary.
  3. If we are able to accept the equipment, package the equipment, and provide the weight and dimensions of the package. Please ensure that the equipment is packed securely to avoid damage during shipping. The EDPSC will provide you with a shipping label.
  4. Ship the equipment. You will receive a message from the EDPSC acknowledging receipt of your donation.

We greatly appreciate your generosity as we work to provide meaningful assistance to our global partners!

Process for Requesting Equipment for Donation
