Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) have now been applied clinically for several decades. The accumulation of published technical and clinical studies currently available has offered insights into both the efficacy and special concerns associated with the delivery of the stereotactic approach to different disease sites. The last few years have witnessed significant advances in both delivery technology and planning approaches. Digital linacs equipped with high dose rate flattening-filter free (FFF) beams are particularly well suited to stereotactic applications. Modern image guidance provides a framework for managing uncertainties and optimizing margins. Knowledge-based approaches can automate many aspects of the treatment planning process. This session will provide an overview of these important technical considerations in SRS/SBRT, and discuss approaches to safe clinical implementation.

Learning Objectives:
1. Understand commissioning and application of FFF beams in SRS and SBRT applications
2. Understand how image guidance plays a role in the design of treatment margins and the management of uncertainties
3. Understand the methodology and application of knowledge-based planning to SRS and SBRT
