Subcommittee on Distinguished Lectureships

Charge/Mission:

  1. To assure accountability and oversight of all Distinguished Lectureships.
  2. To review applications to establish new Distinguished Lectureships to assure that the topics proposed are suitable for presentation at Annual or Spring Clinical meetings and, since having someone's name attached to an annual lectureship is considered an honor, to assure that any names to be attached to the lectureship are appropriate, subject to Awards and Honors approval.
  3. To establish a Task Group each year to select topics of Lecturers, and decide where to fit the Lectures into the meeting program.
  4. To ensure that the Lecturers and topics selected each year are in accord with the desires of the donors.
  5. To inform the donors of the subcommittee's respective selections of topics and speakers for each Annual Lecture.
  6. After each Annual Lecture, to inform the donors of the responses to these selections by those AAPM members who attended the Lecture, and what action the subcommittee was taking to address any expressed concerns.
  7. To seek the opinion of the donor(s) concerning the honorarium for each of the Lectureships, with input from the AAPM's Controller, who will know the financial status of the fund and what the specific Distinguished Lectureship fund can safely afford each year.
  8. To submit to each donor an annual financial report on the interest earned and the amount remaining in the donor's Lectureship fund.
  9. In the event that AAPM decides that a specific Lectureship fund must be liquidated before it has been exhausted, the subcommittee has the responsibility or reporting to the donor(s) the circumstances that led to the decision to liquidate, who made the decision to liquidate, and the amount of the remaining funds that will go to the AAPM Education and Research General Fund.
