Numbering

AAPM Reports are assigned numbers by the following process.

  • An AAPM Report published by a Task Group (TG) will be given the same number as the TG.
  • An AAPM Report published by a non-TG will be assigned an inactive TG number; that number will only be used as the report number.
  • Reports will be numbered sequentially unless it is a survey, update, or addendum. This will be differentiated as follows:
    • Report ### = original report
    • Report ###.Survey = Survey (actual survey results conducted as part of the report writing process)
    • Report ###.B = Update 1
    • Report ###.C = Update 2

Medical Physics Practice Guidelines (MPPGs) are managed by the MPPG guidance documents.

Title Standardization

AAPM Report titles use the following format: “AAPM [group code] Report XXX: <Title of Report>”.
