Purpose: Commission the Fast Dose Calculator (FDC), a track-repeating Monte Carlo for proton and ion dose calculations, to be used as a dose calculation engine at the Shanghai Proton and Heavy Ion Center.

Methods: The beam at the exit of the vacuum pipe 1,400 mm upstream of the isocenter was described with five variables: the energy, the transverse position and the angles relative to the beam axis. Measurements of dose depth profiles in water and lateral profiles in air in the proximity of the isocenter were utilized for carbon and proton for a set of five energies for each projectile. The experimental setup for the measurements was reproduced in FDC, and the parameters describing the beam were tuned, so that the FDC results would match the experimental measurements. In addition, an interpolation method was implemented to estimate the parameters for all the other beam energies available at the facility.

Results: The experimental measurements were reproduced with an accuracy better than 2% for both carbon and proton for all the energies included in the comparisons

Conclusion: The Fast Dose Calculator was commissioned for SPHIC.
