1. Statement of the problem, magnitude of tumor and surface dose errors that exists without accounting for the external devices. 2. Motivation to correct the problem. 3. Literature review of attenuation and surface dose effects of various couchtops and immobilization devices, including Calypso. 4. Recommendations for tumor and surface dose measurement methods (dosimeters and measurement geometry) for photons, electrons, and protons. 5. Recommendations to the TPS vendor community about solutions to the problem and to medical Physicists about how to best handle external devices in the current implementation of TPS.
