  1. Review calibration phantoms versus in-air calibration for GSR devices
  2. Work with Working Group on Dosimetry Calibration Protocol for Beams that are Not Compliant with TG-51 (WGDCPB)
  3. Suggest a protocol for calibration with ionization chambers calibrated appropriately at an Accredited Dosimetry Calibration Laboratory that can be successfully utilized with all GSR devices
  4. Update Quality Assurance protocols for all static GSR devices
  5. Create new Quality Assurance protocols for new GSR devices with rotating or moving sources

Most recent status update:All equipment has been received at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for our Round Robin Dosimetry measurement. Two ionization chambers and one electrometer have been received at University of Wisconsin ADCL and calibrated without cost to AAPM. Two Elekta phantoms, one Liquid Water Hemispherical phantom and one in-air calibration jig are in place or soon will be in place. TLD and alanine dosimeters will also be included. Bob Dryzmala has written the protocols and Excel spreadsheets. After UPMC has tested the protocols, all equipment will be sent to Cleveland Clinic to repeat the measurements and then back to the UW ADCL for a calibration check. These measurements should provide valuable information to help in making a recommendation on a calibration protocol appropriate to all Gamma Stereotactic Radiosurgery units. Detailed Monte Carlo calculations in support of this calibration are being conducted by Elekta Instruments in Stockholm and by Jan Seuntjens at McGill University. The Task Group should have a draft report ready to be reviewed by late in 2012. The next meeting of the Task Group will be July 30 in Vancouver.
