Activities
  1. To provide an overview of the effects induced by the COVID-19 pandemic on the practice changes of medical physicists in Radiation Therapy.
  2. To evaluate the influence of COVID-19-induced practice changes in Radiation Oncology, including department policies, working modes, and treatment protocols. These practice changes provide radiation oncology centers with alternative options for practice during and beyond the pandemic era.
  3. To share valuable insights gained from workflow modificafions and pracfice changes that occurred during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, including aspects such as the significance of effecfive communicafion and addressing job stress and burnout.
  4. To evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on Medical Physics Residency Training Programs, focusing on areas such as ufilizing social media for recruitment and informafion disseminafion, conducfing virtual interviews, and facilitafing remote training methods.
  5. To explore the disproporfionate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on pafients receiving radiafion treatment at a safety-net hospital compared with a private hospital. This invesfigafion includes an evaluafion of the accessibility of convenfional radiotherapy services, as well as advanced treatment methodologies and innovafive modalifies through clinical trials. We emphasize the imperafive for society to recognize the significance and value of safety-net hospitals.
