Working Group on Radiation Dose Index Monitoring Software Data (WGRDIMD)

AAPM Members, Affiliates and Non-Member Affiliates - Login for access to additional information

ActivitiesAs modality reported and software derived radiation dose indices are documented within commercial and institution-developed software applications and transmitted to other programs such as dictation software, registry database engines, and EMRs it is vital that interoperability and transmission standards be established and that consensus positions on the use of derived indices be developed. Interoperability and consistency of communication and appropriate use are vital as patients may have data stored in multiple RDIMs and EMRs. Establishing consensus positions on the use and reporting of derived radiation dose indices will help inform best practices and practice standards in the global radiology community and may be the basis for joint position statements. The Working Group will solicit members from external societies and software companies in addition to seeking input from relevant stake holders to achieve consensus positions. The working group membership will work together to develop reasonable and appropriate best practice for the communication and use of radiation dose indices as part of the electronic medical record of patients.
