Activities
  1. To review the worldwide development of new primary absorbed dose and air kerma standards for both external beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy.  The output of the working group will be annual reports to the CLA SC. A report would also be provided following each CCRI meeting (currently held every two years).
  2. To identify where primary standards are needed for clinical applications that have become widespread.
  3. Coordinate efforts between vendors, beta sites and early adopters of new treatment/imaging modalities requiring dosimetry considerations to determine if new primary standards or protocols are required.
  4. Identify where new or existing technologies will have impacts on current NIST standards and ADCL calibration services and make recommendations to the AAPM CLA SC. The WG will also review how such developments could impact current dosimetry protocols and make recommendations regarding modification or replacement of current AAPM protocols.
